About the event
Pioneering Chinese electronic band Supermarket (超级市场) will perform live at Dingwalls, Camden, London on 17 May.
Formed in the 1990s and widely regarded as the first true electronic band in China, Supermarket has developed a distinct sonic language rooted in minimalism, repetition, and subtle structural shifts. Blending elements of synthpop, experimental electronics, and stripped-back rhythmic frameworks, their work unfolds with restrained intensity and a strong sense of urban atmosphere.
Emerging from a context where electronic music had little infrastructure, the band has remained consistently outside the mainstream, shaping an enduring presence within the underground while influencing generations of artists in China.
The current line-up features vocalist Tian Peng (田鹏), vocalist / keyboardist / guitarist Zhu Mengdie (朱梦蝶), keyboardist Shii, and drummer Ma Haoxuan (马浩轩).
This London show marks a rare opportunity to experience one of the foundational acts of Chinese electronic music in an intimate live setting.
Please note this show is 14+ (under 16s must be accompanied by an 18+ adult). Valid physical photo ID is required for entry.
