About the event

ESEA unseen  are thrilled to be curating a weekend of activity at London’s Southbank  Center as part of the You Belong Here summer season @southbankcentre on Friday 16th, Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th August 2024! Our  vision is an invitation to time travel and interconnect to ancestral  wisdoms through modern performance, music, and soundscapes. Whether it's  conjuring up nostalgia with uncanny global sounds of ancient  instruments interlaced with the electronic, participatory performances  calling on embodied knowledge, or rhythmic beats collaged together by  DJs inspiring you move. Watch this space for line-up announcements of the fab artistic talents ready to meet you on the Riverside Terrace floor.

— ESEA  unseen are Kim Chin and Sue Man, who met through London’s  creative-music-social circles during the early 2000’s. Through  organising and producing interventions fighting for intersectional  social and climate justice, they reconnected with each other to use  experimental textiles, conversations and social engagement as a vehicle  to heal, connect, and build resistance. One of their missions is  for ESEA agency taking up public spaces. By working with arts, learning,  and community networks, these experiences are assembled to create  public facing events where people can come together, celebrate their  experiences, and imagine spaces of cultural exchange that thrive beyond  structures of colonial oppression.
