About the event

Join us at @southbankcentre on 22 Sept for the closing night of ESEA Lit Fest, the UK’s award-winning East and South East Asian literary festival: British-Malaysian  stand-up comedian, writer and actor Phil Wang talks to Zing Tsjeng  about his memoir Sidesplitter and what it means to be torn between two  continents. Together they explore comedy and storytelling as a way of  skewering the cultural narratives and tropes around diasporic identity. Featured  in the Guardian, Harper’s Bazaar and Elle, ESEA Lit Fest is a joyful,  thought-provoking celebration of East and South East Asian literature  and culture that’s open to all. The day festival returns to  Foyles Charing Cross Road with readings, conversations, workshops and a  lunchtime charity fundraiser on Saturday 21st September. There will be  displays of ESEA books throughout September at Foyles’ branches at  Charing Cross Road and on the South Bank, celebrating ESEA Heritage  Month. ESEA Lit Fest is supported by @hachetteuk and their employee network @thrivehachette, @paperliterary and @bagrifoundation. @wangpix @miss_zing @foylesforbooks
