THE SEAS BETWEEN US — Polymer DMT / Fang Yun Lo
Taiwanese-German choreographer Fang Yun Lo brings her company Polymer DMT to The Place for two nights, with performers Chou Shu-Yi and Lee Mun Wai in a 70-minute duet about Taiwan, China and the borders that run through a body. Charged, physical dance theatre that turns political tension into something intimate — for anyone drawn to contemporary dance with an ESEA diasporic edge.

About the event
A choreographic duet by Dresden-based Taiwanese choreographer Lo Fang-Yun, created in collaboration with Taiwanese dancer Chou Shu-Yi and Berlin-based Singaporean dancer Lee Mun Wai.
Inspired by the unresolved conflict between China and Taiwan, The Seas Between Us explores how political systems and cultural influences shape personal identity, behaviour and human relationships. Drawing from their distinct dance backgrounds and lived experiences, the performers navigate moments of difference, connection and tension through movement. The work approaches these questions through the language of the body – and opens up a multi-layered space for reflection, encounter and exchange.
World politics and biographies intertwine on a gleaming silver platter, delivering one of the most profound contributions to this year's Euro-Scene festival.
