About the event

Concert and Talk

The ensemble will perform timeless kabuki compositions such as Matsuribayashi (祭囃子), Kanjincho (勧進帳), and Shishi (獅子). Gain deeper insights into kabuki music and its musical instruments through a brief talk by the musicians.

What is Kabuki?

Kabuki theatre, added to UNESCO’s list of  Intangible Cultural Heritage elements in 2008, originated in the Edo  period (1603-1868). It is one of the four forms of classical Japanese  theatre performances, along with Noh, kyogen (comic theatre), and  bunraku (puppet theatre).

Free to attend but registration is essential.
