The Botanist (London Premiere) + Intro + Q&A
Green Ray presents the London premiere of The Botanist (2025), Jing Yi's debut feature about a lonely Kazakh boy in northern Xinjiang who finds companionship in the plants around him. Professor Victor Fan (King's College London) introduces the film in person, and director Jing Yi joins online for a post-screening Q&A. For anyone into slow cinema, Chinese-language independent film and festival titles from Berlinale.

About the event
In China's Xinjiang region, a Kazakh boy's magical friendship with a local Han girl blooms amid a world where plants and imagination intertwine.
The screening is in collaboration with Green Ray, as part of the SPRING QUARTET programme.
Professor Victor Fan from King's College London will deliver an in-person introduction before the screening. The screening will also be followed by an online Q&A with director Jing Yi.
