Star Nhà Ease returns for 2025 with a bold new season

exploring Vietnam’s Đổi Mới-era cinema, from the raw

energy of the 1990s “instant noodle” films to the inventive,

rebellious storytelling that followed.

Following its acclaimed debut in 2024, Star Nhà Ease, the

UK’s only curated season celebrating Vietnamese cinema,

returns with a programme that unearths lost gems,

reimagines access, and spotlights a rising wave of

Vietnamese/ESEA curators and artists.

This year’s season, led by curator-producer Tuyết Vân

Huỳnh, is anchored by three main feature films, including

Hát Giữa Chiều Mưa (Singing in the Rainy Afternoon, 1990),

Gái nhảy (Bar Girls, 2002) and Những đứa trẻ trong sương

(Children of the Mist, 2021), alongside a powerful

animated short and a documentary shorts strand curated

by emerging British Vietnamese/ ESEA curators.

In collaboration with The Centre for Assistance and

Development of Movie Talents (TPD), the Vietnam Film

Institute and Varan Hanoi.
