About the event
The Korean Cultural Centre UK (KCCUK), in collaboration with the City of Icheon, presents Icheon and Beyond: The Space Within Form, an exhibition exploring the philosophical and material foundations of Korean ceramics.
Presented as part of London Craft Week 2026, Icheon and Beyond opens a significant dialogue between the craft traditions of Korea and the UK, both of which value material integrity and the sensitivity of the making process.
The exhibition invites visitors to look beyond the surface and reflect on the quiet strength and unseen layers of time required to transform earth and fire into lasting form. This exhibition is a meditation on the unspoken endurance of Korean ceramics, with the journey beginning with the distilled presence of 21 Master Artisans from Icheon.
The display brings together works by 27 practitioners, including classic artisans from Icheon alongside contemporary makers, with a focus on how vessels are shaped and finished. Pale celadon glazes with their subtle tonal shifts sit alongside buncheong wares marked by looser decoration, and white porcelain pieces, often sparsely ornamented, highlight an approach in which the absence of decoration is as deliberate as its application.
Free entry. Open Monday to Friday, 10am–5:30pm.
