ESEA Film Mixer

Between 2011  and 2020, only 9 British films by East & Southeast Asian (ESEA)  directors were theatrically released out of 1077 films, ESEA actors were  featured in just 17 theatrical releases during that time*. ESEA actors  are rarely cast in leading roles. More white women have won Academy  Awards for Best Actress for portraying ESEA characters than actual  actresses from those backgrounds*. This highlights the significant  underrepresentation and marginalisation of the ESEA community in the  film industry, both in front of and behind the camera. At this event, you will have access to 1 on 1 conversations with 4x incredible ESEA industry experts: Vicki Brown (Senior Sales and Distribution Executive @ BFI & Co-founder of @milkteafilms) Jemma Moore (Actor known for roles in ITV thriller Red Eye and award-winning horror ‘HOST’) Georgie Yukiko Donovan (Producer/Director, with award winning body of work for Netflix, BBC & BFI) Christopher CF Chow BFE (Film/Television Editor, his latest film RAGING GRACE, written and directed by @pariszarcilla, is the first British feature film ever to win Best Narrative Feature at SXSW as well as Best Debut) We have space for our community - if you are not a Soho House member and  would like to attend the event then drop a comment here.
