D_Antidote Production: Non-Ordinary Services

A BOLD FUSION OF CONTEMPORARY DANCE AND SCI-FI AESTHETICS

Internationally acclaimed Taiwanese company D_Antidote Production and choreographer Chuang Po-Hsiang present the UK premiere of Non-Ordinary Services, a bold fusion of contemporary dance and dystopian sci-fi aesthetics.

Bodies twist, merge and collapse. Movements are broken apart, reassembled and reprogrammed as dancers support and manipulate one another. In scenes both tender and unsettling to weave a story of the strange and often invisible systems that shape human relationships.

First conceived as a duet in 2023, the work explores service as an act of responsibility and sustenance, paid or unpaid. Now expanded to seven performers, it draws individuals into an increasingly complex web of relationships, where care becomes control, roles blur and bodies struggle to separate.

Described by Goethe Medal recipient Geng Yi-Wei as “the most promising choreographer of the next generation,” Chuang Po-Hsiang explores how bodies move, interact and reflect the societies around them. His choreography breaks down familiar movements and reassembles them in unexpected ways, combining a strong visual language with the cinematic atmosphere of science fiction.

Founded in 2022, D_Antidote Production is led by a new star in Taiwanese contemporary dance – Chuang Po-Hsiang – who explores the body as a medium, drawing inspiration from both social realities and imagined worlds. Blending movement, imagery and emotion through a range of artistic forms, the company creates work that uncovers the subtleties of human experience through a striking visual aesthetic.

Using the body and movement, the company opens a space between reality and illusion, inviting audiences to reflect, engage and search for their own “antidote” to life.
