A cosy ESEA-weighted session focused on eating, talking and drinking tea. Start by learning to make a quick crunchy pickle to take home. Then, eat congee with a selection of ferments, pickles, sauces and sides.

About the event

We start by making a quick pickle using crunchy, vibrant veg that you can take home and start eating that evening. Learn to customise the flavour to suit your own tastes and preferences. Then, enjoy warm and nourishing multigrain congee with an ever-changing selection of vegan side dishes: think lactofermented veggies, sweet and sour pickles, chilli oils and sauces, classic Chinese ‘stomach openers’ and more. All slow made with love in my home kitchen. This is a chance to meet other people in a small group and talk about your culture, heritage and identity. We can also nerd out on food, of course!

Chinese or herbal tea will also be provided.

I hope you will leave feeling nourished and connected.

Location

The session takes place in my home kitchen in South London. The exact address will be shared via email after you have booked. The location is a seven-minute walk from New Cross Gate (on the London Overground or a six-minute train from London Bridge) or a sixteen-minute walk or short bus ride from Queen’s Road Peckham.

Dietary requirements and allergies

All the ingredients and food served will be vegan. Because this session takes place in a home kitchen, I cannot guarantee that the environment will be free from allergens.
