About the event

A CENTURY IN SOUND - talk and listening session.

22nd March. 7pm - 11pm.

Over a decade in the making, Nick Dwyer’s epic six-part film on the Japanese listening bar scene is finally hitting the screens.

The Barbican is screening the first three episodes on March 22nd and we’re hosting the official afters, with a talk and listening session from 7pm.

Nick will be in conversation with Spiritland’s founder Paul Noble about his deep journey into the country, the culture and the unique world of ongaku kissa that has spread globally in the last decade.

Nick started out as a radio presenter in New Zealand at the preposterously early age of 14, and has since built a name for himself as a documentarian, producer and presenter on a number of shows, always with music at the forefront.

Music comes from an equally inspirational talent, Kay Suzuki from Time Capsule label and magazine.
